The length of time to process your visa depends on Immigration New Zealand processing times. This is influenced by how many applications are being submitted and dealt with at the time. From the time the visa is lodged with Immigration NZ, providing all requirements have been submitted correctly. Generally, it can take four to six weeks for the visa to be approved. Following the interview with the employer, it could take two to four weeks for the selection process to take place. If your application is successful, we will be in touch to confirm the job offer and assist with the documentation process for your visa application. The overall process can take two to three months, from an application to arriving and starting your new job in New Zealand.

Depending on your employer, you may be required to pay for your flights, visa application, and medical and police clearances. Some employers will assist with these costs, or they may advance you the funds to pay for them and ask for reimbursement over time. This would be negotiated and discussed at the time of offering the role.

Most of the employment contracts in New Zealand are not for a fixed period. Generally, they are permanent with no specific termination date.
